The actress and singer Selena Gomez made her engagement to record producer and songwriter Benny Blanco public in a social media post Wednesday night, and her close friend, Taylor Swift, did not hesitate to say that she would be the flower girl of the ceremony.
Gomez, who this week announced as a recipient of two Golden Globe nominations shared the photographs where she had marquise engagement ring saying, “Forever begins now”. In that picture, Gomez sits on a lawn next to a picnic basket and a Taco Bell box, and a champagne bottle and is startled by the ring she is holding in her hand.
“I said yes to this,” Gomez said in a brief video clip that went with a post on her Instagram stories. “It’s so beautiful.”
Blanco, whose last name happens to be Gomez, exclaimed, “Oh no that’s my wife.” This took place on their engagement post that had gained over 15 million likes and a rising number of comments from Gomez’s entourage by Thursday morning. Earlier, Jennifer A of the ‘Big Bang Theory’ fame, Lil Nas X, Nina Dobrev, Gwyneth Paltrow and even Lily Collins congratulated them. James Swift, a good friend of Gomez says “yes I will be the flower girl”. That single comment has over one million likes. Neither Gomez nor her representative, Blanco, commented on the matter on Thursday; no one responded to requests for information. The engagement post has accumulated over 15 million likes and comments by Thursday morning. In reality, the couple began dating in 2015 when Blanco wrote and produced songs for Gomez’s album called ‘Revival’ among others including ‘Single Soon’ a song that Gomez released last year.
The couple has attended to tabloids and taken the liberty to discuss their relationship, this all took place after December 2023. The couple seems to be openly affectionate towards each other.
During the recording of ‘The Howard Stern Show’ in May, she was also present to hear her husband, Blanco, saying that he would love to have children since he claimed that she is his best friend. “When I look at her, I do say, I don’t know a world where it can be better than this.” Was quoted by husband Blanco.
While having a chat with CBS, gomez claimed that he is indeed her best friend and she feels the same sense of comfort when she is around him.

While talking to gomez, one could clearly witness a proud soul, gomez says, “It brings me a joy”, when someone appreciates the work she does and that she has someone to motivate her through troubling times.
In a December 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, gomez explained why she couldn’t stand it and decided to post pictures and videos of gomez and her partner together. Based on her statements, for the first time she felt safe and protected.
She further added, “People will not feel the need to come after you.”
